Improve Your PPC Campaign Using Eight Straightforward Steps

Whether you are looking to add automated sms to your digital marketing campaign, or simply want to increase the effectiveness of your inbound marketing efforts, improving your paid campaign is one of the best ways to improve digital marketing ROI.

The following are eight straightforward and simple steps you can take to improve the effectiveness of your PPC campaign right away.

Step one: Set a goal for the analysis

Before starting on any PPC improvement campaign, the first step is to determine what your concrete goals will be. Do you want to target a new demographic? Experiment with different PPC ads? Improve click-through rate or conversations? Whatever your goals are, they should be front and center before any analysis is conducted, so you have something to measure success or failure by.

Step two: Choose the dates you want to analyze

Next, you’ll want to isolate the dates you’re going to analyze. The Internet is a fast-moving place, and what might be true one year could very well no longer apply the next year. By isolating a specific period of time and measuring improvements against that period, you’ll gain much greater insights. Try choosing a one month to one-quarter period of time.

Step three: Determine what your core metrics are

What are the key metrics you’ll be using to determine success or failure? This is related to step one, since your core metrics should reflect your goals. For example, if your goal is to improve click-through rate, then obviously you’ll want to measure CTR throughout your analysis.

Step four: Dive into the PPC campaign structure

Next, you should analyze the way your PPC campaign is set up. Examples include how demographics are split up, how money is allocated, and which specific elements of your business are receiving PPC traffic.

Step five: Assess (or reassess) the search term reports

After you’ve analyzed the structure of your PPC campaign, you’ll want to check out the actual value of the keywords you’re testing. SEMRush is an excellent tool for doing exactly that. Try to find keywords or alternative keyword phrases that can convert better than your existing ones, if possible.

Step six: Conduct A/B testing

Once you have a new set of keywords to test, compare them to your existing keywords and strategies through A/B testing. You should be able to see patterns within just a few days.

Step seven: Refocus PPC targets

After conducting A/B testing, you’ll want to refocus our PPC efforts to the aspects of the campaign that had the greatest impact on your goals (as measured by your core metrics). By refocusing your PPC campaign, you’ll get maximum return on each marketing dollar spent.

Step eight: Leverage Google Analytics

If you aren’t using Google Analytics already, be sure to incorporate it into your website and PPC assets. GA provides a comprehensive suite of tools and analysis that can help you further improve your PPC campaign’s effectiveness.

PPC campaigns are best combined with other marketing campaigns, such as a text messaging service for business. This is because text messages are among the most read of all messages (with an estimated 98% open rate). By combining each of these services together, you can leverage them on top of one another to maximize the return on your marketing budget.

WordPress Plugins, How Important Are They?…

The most important thing to do to maximize your WordPress blog is to use the many thousands of free Plugins. There is a plugin for just about everything. Some of the most important ones are All In One SEO, Akismet, and Google AdSense now.

All In One SEO is a plugin to help you optimize your blog for getting indexed by the search engines. You need to be very careful when configuring this plugin because if you put the wrong title or keywords in the boxes you can do more bad than good.

Akismet is a spam filter. Before you can configure the plugin you will have to sign up for a free account at WordPress.com. This plugin requires a special API key which will be issued by WordPress.Com after you create your account. All you have to do is copy and paste the API key in the appropriate box in the dashboard of your blog. Once you put that number in the plugin can be activated. The purpose of this plugin is to prevent people from spamming your comments boxes.

There are many Google AdSense Plugins and all of them have different features. AdSense now allows you to place Google ads in certain locations in your post. You will have to go to Google.com and sign up for a free AdSense account. One’s your account is activated Google will assign you a special publisher ID number. It is very important that you put that number in the proper location in the advertising script. If you do not have that number in the script, you will not get credit when someone clicks the ads on your blog.

Google AdSense is just one of many ways to make money with your blog. When the advertisements show on your page people visiting your blog can click on these ads and you will be paid for each click. The amount of money you get paid will depend on the keywords. This can range from as low as 2¢ per click to as high as $2.00 or more per click.

Many Bloggers make good money with Google AdSense depending on the subject matter of their blog. The amount of money you make will also depend on the amount of traffic that visits your blog. This is where the plugin All In One SEO plays a big part. If your site is indexed by Google it could be on page one or two of the search engine. The higher the ranking that you get with Google the more it will increase the amount of traffic your blog receives.

WordPress has many other Plugins for advertising affiliate products and when customers buy these products you will receive a commission for every product sold. There is even a plugin that allows you to place Amazon Products on your blog. Again you will have to sign up for an associate account with Amazon to be an affiliate for their products.

There are Amazon Plugins that will place Amazon ads in your sidebar or create an entire Amazon store on your blog. With these Plugins you can sell any number of products Amazon offers which can be anything from books and DVD’s to electronics, clothing, Automotive Products and a great number of other categories.

WordPress Contest Plugin…

In the past I have used various plugins for my WordPress websites and blogs. Some of these plugins were to optimize the site in some fashion or another. But some of these plugins also generated a lot of traffic for my website by using social media. One such plugin was for having a contest on your website that actually integrated Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to create a viral contest for your website.

The WordPress contest plugin actually helped generate all kinds for buzz and traffic to my website. One contest I gave away toys, another contest I gave away free products and services.

This WordPress plugin will actually keep track of all the tweets, comments, video responses and Facebook posts. It’s pretty amazing. If you are into viral marketing or have a some sort of product launch, this contest WordPress plugin would be right for you. Even if you are a local store you could somehow integrate this plugin into your own site and even generate local buzz about your brick and mortar business.

A good Twitter, YouTube or Facebook contest can bring viral traffic to your website. For instance, let’s say that you have a Twitter contest and you are giving away a gift card. One person with 1000 followers on Twitter sends a tweet about your contest. Then let’s say that 500 of his followers retweet or enter the contest. Then it could go viral and people all over the place would know that your site, product or service exists.

Think of the potential customers and the publicity you could receive in the land of social media.

If you would like to learn more about this viral marketing WordPress Plugin you can head to the blog post below.

Fun WordPress Plugins For More Website Traffic…

Everyone deserves a little more fun in their lives. Now you can share the fun by adding fun plugins to your WordPress website. Just because they are fun does not mean they are not useful or functional, these can make your website easier for your readers and shares the fun with them.

FlippingBook WordPress Gallery

There are plenty of WordPress Photo Gallery plugins available. FlippingBook is different. It has the look and the sounds of flipping pages of a coffee book. Allow your readers to flip through the pages.

WP Tagnetic

With each post and page you create you can add tags. These allow your readers to find related posts easier especially when you add the tag cloud widget to your sidebar. This plugin changes that standard boring list into a “magnetic poetry.” Just like the magnetic words of a few years ago you can rearrange the words or click on them to go to the related posts.

WP Cumulus

From the same creators as WP Tagnetic is WP Cumulus. Now your tag cloud can be like a 3D word cloud. Your readers can spin the ball of words, find the one they want and click on it. The ball rotates in all directions and allows you to color code to match your site.

Sketch Bookmarks

You can get plugins with all the social media icons which makes for a long and confusing list. Alternately you could get this plugin. It only uses 6 social icons but the design looks sketched adding a nice appearance to your WordPress website. You can also choose to include all or some of the icons.

Admin Favicon

Some websites have a cool icon next to their name on the browser tab. That icon is called a favicon. Programmers and hackers have been able to add favicons to their sites with just a few lines of code. This WordPress plugin makes it even simpler and allows anyone to upload, add or change their favicon with a few clicks.

CommentLuv

You want your readers to comment on your posts. This plugin encourages that and adds love for your commentators and love for your post. For your post, you get a little heart that says you love your commentators. You commentators get that love because when they comment your blog shows their latest post.

Post Teaser

Rather than show your posts from start to finish on your front page, this allows your page to show just a paragraph. The problem with the normal fashion is that your front page may only show a few posts and depending on the length, can take a awhile to look through them. With this one showing the first paragraph your readers can click the “more” button to read more of that post or keep looking.

WordPress – How to Install Plugins Within the Dashboard of WordPress 3.0…

This is a short article on WordPress – How to install and activate plugins in WordPress 3.0. After reading this article you will be able to install all your plugins now and in the future. There are two ways in which you can install WordPress Plugins from within the Dashboard of your WordPress blog. One way is to search via the Dashboard and the other way is to download them to your computer and upload your plugin via the Dashboard. I will take you through both ways step by step. If this is the first time you will be installing plugins, it is a simple process so just follow along and carry out each step as needed.

Installing Plugins via the Dashboard Automatically

First you will need to login to the ‘Dashboard’ of your WordPress blog. If you now look over on the left hand side you will see a list of of menus. Hover over the ‘Plugins’ Menu and click on the arrow that appears, a drop down menu will now appear.

Now click on ‘Add New’ and you will now arrive at the ‘Install Plugins’ page.

As you can see on the screen you are able to type in a word or phrase for what you are searching for, now if you know the name of the plugin you are searching for, enter the name of that plugin. If you are searching to see if there is a plugin to carry out a particular task, enter a relevant phrase. For this example I am going to enter ‘database backup’ as this is something I need to add to my blog. Now click on ‘Search Plugins’.

As you will see, a list of different plugins will appear. Look through the list to see if there is an appropriate plugin for what you are searching for. The plugin ‘WP-DB-Backup’ is in my list which is perfect for what I was looking for, so I will now click ‘Install Now’ link. You will now see the plugin you chose being installed and it will tell you when it is complete, you will then be presented with the option to activate the plugin – if you wish to do so, click on the ‘Activate Now’ link.

All done! Any plugins which have been added to the WordPress.org website can now be installed onto your blog in this way without having to download them and install them manually.

Uploading Plugins From Your Computer to Your WordPress Blog

You may still, from time to time need to install a plugin manually, for example, it may be a newly released plugin that has not yet been added to WordPress.org site or you may have purchased a plugin. I will be showing you how to do this using a plugin called ‘RSS Bomber’ as I have just purchased it.

Once you have downloaded the plugin to your computer, you need to make sure that the plugin is inside a zip file. Now login to your WordPress Dashboard and click on the ‘Plugins’ tab and then ‘Add New’. Now click on the ‘Upload’ link near the top of the page. Now click the ‘Choose File’ button and choose the zip file of your plugin to be uploaded, then click ‘Choose’ followed by the ‘Install Now’ button. WordPress will now upload and install your plugin. Once the installation of your plugin has finished it will give you the option to activate your plugin, just click the ‘Activate Plugin’ link to activate it. All done – you will now see your newly installed plugin in your ‘Manage Plugins’ page.

You have now learned the two easiest ways to install plugins into WordPress 3.0, you can of course upload your plugins via an FTP client but this is a little more technical and why do things the hard way when they can be done in the simplest ways possible!

How to Install WordPress Plugins

When it comes to WordPress plugins, there are hundreds… if not thousands to choose from. Trying to decide what’s best for you and your site can be a bit tricky.

Before we get into a lot of the “supplementary” plugins there are a few “core” plugins that EVERY WordPress site should have. These plugins are critical to ensure the success of your site AND leveraging the power of WordPress with internet marketing.

I will briefly discuss each plugin and why they are so critical:

#1 – All in One SEO Pack – WordPress itself isn’t very SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly. There are a LOT of improvements that could be made to each and every page and post that is created. All in One SEO Pack does a fantastic job of allowing you to update the title tags, meta description, and meta keyword to ensure your page/post is SEO friendly.

#2 – Google Analytics for WordPress – It doesn’t matter how good you THINK your site is … without Google analytics you will never actually KNOW how visitors interact with your site AND how you can make it better. If you seriously want a site to succeed online and you do not have Google Analytics, or some kind of statistic tracking code installed on your site, you will NOT succeed. Simple as that.

#3 – Google XML Sitemaps – This is a very powerful plugin for Search Engine Optimization. It ensures all your pages, even recent ones, can get indexed quickly and efficiently. Google themselves have stated that have a “sitemap” WILL help for indexing purposes.

#4 – Add to Any: Share/Bookmark/eMail – This one may not be quite a critical as the above plugins but lends itself nicely to viral marketing. Giving your visitors the ability to “share” your website/page with others can tremendously help your SEO and traffic initiatives. This plugin will vary in importance depending on your site however I strongly recommend have this installed … just in case …

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of plugins. There are other plugins that could arguably make this list however I wanted to keep it fairly short and sweet and focus on two of the most important elements of a site TRAFFIC and TESTING.
